BEST PRACTICES

Conversational Tone: For most companies, copy should be conversational in tone. No need for perfect grammar or event complete sentences; just write as if one person is talking to another. â€‹

Keep it Simple: Advertising multiple deals can get cluttered. Try promoting one deal per spot, or simply giving a good overview of what your business can do.

Speak to Fans: Copy should be directed toward Iowa State fans. 

  • Avoid: Phrases like "Hey Cyclone Fans," and "Go Cyclones," - these keep you from sticking out in the broadcast.

  • Instead, TryPhrases like "Before you head to the game," or "Our business is like Cyclone Football," - which direct your message to fans without specifically calling them out.

Phone Numbers don't work unless they are "gimmicky;" it is hard to remember numbers that are long and complicated.

​

Websites work and are easy to remember, but the "www" is unnecessary in almost every case.
